Boeing 787 Dreamliner to feature Android-based entertainment systems
When Android first made its way on to the technology scene, Google promised its future would be far more involving than phone devices. Well, guess what, they finally delivered. How dope s it to see Boeing outfitting their prized position the 787 Dreamliner with full fledged Android Based offerings.
Actually, Dreamliner customers will be able to choose between two different systems, the Panasonic eX3 and the Thales TopSeries Avant. The latter has been shown off during a demonstration at the Farnborough International Airshow and we’re hearing it rocks.
The TopSeries Avant will be available with 10 and 17-inch screen sizes, each featuring a dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and 256GB of built-in memory, which will undoubtedly be used for storing all the movies. Moreover, there will be some customized interface running on top of Android, providing quick access to various content types, as well as web browsing since the Dreamliner comes with Internet access support.
But that’s not all. Some configurations of Boeing’s “baby” will also ship with the Touch Passenger Media Unit (or TouchPMU), a 3.8-inch handheld Android device that is designed to serve as a companion to the tablet unit. Pretty cool… Unfortunately, there are still not that many Dreamliners in service, so you’ll have to wait a bit longer to be able to play with these gadgets in the sky.
