Facebook’s ‘Project Spartan’ HTML5-based client goodness leaked

Facebook’s ‘Project Spartan’ HTML5-based client goodness leaked

These images were posted to facebook’s development page, then pulled with the quickness. No doubt in error, as the announcement due until next week, oops. But what is project spartan?

Well, on the surface it looks like a just a pretty new replacement for the all time famous x.facebook.com or even the more popular and widely used m.facebook.com. If that were true, that would be a great thing on its own. But reports have it, this thing uses HTML 5 technologies to its own good. Not will the facebook applications be available, but games as well.

This is where it gets interesting. As most modern smartphones have a HTML 5 enabled browser on board, this could be a highly effective way to tunnel those addicting games right to the user with little to no interaction from the gate keepers. Avoid app stores and their processes while moving at your own pace, it sounds good to me.

we’ll have to wait until next week to get the whole picture. stay tuned.
