Verizon customers with grandfathered unlimited data plans have been wearing their status with a sense of pride for a long time. New customers stuck with tiered plans look at them with envy and longing. But that’s all about to change.

Reports say Verizon will be killing off the already-endangered unlimited data plan species on its network soon. The company’s 4G LTE subscribers will be moved to a new “data share plan” that is expected to go into effect this summer.

According to Fierce Wireless, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said that this move would be “beneficial” to the company. Customers, however, aren’t necessarily feeling the love.

We’re still waiting on clarification as to how this change will work. Verizon has also said that customers may be able to keep their plans if they forgo getting a subsidized phone, a requirement that could cost users hundreds of dollars out of pocket for an upgrade.

T-Mobile and Sprint both still offer unlimited data plans, though T-Mobile will throttle speeds for heavy users. That does give disgruntled Verizon users an alternative, but how many are really willing to drop the provider?

Some CNET readers are hinting about bolting from Verizon. “Goodbye Verizon. It’s been nice knowing you,” wrote Coco_s. That’s one of the gentler farewell threats culled from recent comments.

Some subscribers may be able to delay the inevitable, but Verizon’s decision is just part of a larger industry trend of companies trying to keep the data genie in the bottle.

It’s a battle between the indestructible blowout and the giant mouse head. Jersey Shore’s DJ Pauly D and fellow mixer Deadmau5 started throwin’ tweet jabs at each other yesterday after Mau5 critiqued Pauly’s “Night of My Life” video, which premiered yesterday.

“Well since you asked, i didn’t really enjoy it. it looked like it cost about $150 to make, and nothing really creative about it,” he wrote.

And off we go…

Pauly D tweeted, “T-Shirt $40 Jeans $120 Hair Gel $12 Being Hated On By Deadmau5 #Priceless.”"Hating? the f–k? you clearly don’t know me enough if you thought that was ‘hating’. was just some friendly-ish advice,” Deadmau5 responded.

“Wonder If I Could Get @Deadmau5 To DJ My Birthday ?? TMZ reports that The Situation will return to MTV’s Jersey Shore for season six, even if he cannot drink. The information was revealed in new legal documents filed by The Situation in his legal battle with Abercrombie & Fitch over GTL-themed clothes. He asked the judge to let him skip a June 14th court date because he says he will be filming Jersey Shore at that time.

The sixth season will tape from May 22 to July 7. He said he’s required to be at the Jersey Shore house the entire time the show is filming, so he would violate his MTV contract if he showed up for the court date

Microsoft announced that there will be a Limited Edition Halo 4 pack available for $100. The limited edition bundle will come with a UNSC Infinity blueprint, DLC mutliplayer maps, assault rifle, Spartan-IV armor, and emblem.  Also included is a 90 minute video of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn live-action show.

Halo 4, developed by 343 Industries, will be the eighth installment into the Halo franchise. This will be the first game of a new Halo trilogy titled “Reclaimer Trilogy.” Here are some of the top features of the Halo 4, including the enhanced Infinity Multiplayer mode.

Spartan Ops

Halo 4 comes with a  limited edition multiplayer experience which includes two different generations in the Spartan super soldiers and the Majestic Squad.  New episodes will be released on a weekly basis providing new objective-based missions. The feature is playable in single player or with four players.

Specializations

Players can earn Specializations and enhance their combat depending on the way they play the game. Six Specializations will be launched on Xbox LIVE allowing players to reach higher ranks within their Spartan’s career.  Players will also receive access to new ranks and unlock new customization options.  This is available for players who purchase the “Halo 4″ Limited Edition on launch day. Others will need to wait until Specializations is released as a DLC.

Combat Freedom, Player Progression

The game comes with new multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles and abilities with the player progression system. Players can customize their Halo game and maps through the Forge feature.  Gamers can customize their own armor and create unique Spartans that be used for Spartan ops and war games.

New characters and environments

Halo 4 introduces a new lineup of enemies who are designed to take out the game’s protagonist, Master Chief.  Master Chief is a man of few words and is defined by the characters surrounding and supporting him. Gamers will have the opportunity to explore deeper into Master Chief’s persona. New characters are introduced bringing new friends and foes for Halo 4′s hero. Master Chief will also be exploring a number of new environment but the primary location for ‘Halo 4″ is the shield world of Requiem.

Halo 4 is set for a worldwide release on November 6, 2012.

Yes graphics look that good now the WOW factor is wearing off. They should concentrate on things like animations and most important of all some kind of AI breakthrough. Start putting more development resources into AI and game play than concentrating to much on trying to make the graphic more photoreal, they already look amazing eventually they will look like real life and that will be the end of that, it will also I think end up feeling like your playing a film rather than a game.

Wired got to sit in on a special demo of the new tech, and it apparently drew quite a few “oooos” and “aaaaahs” from the crowd. The demo – which, as is always the case with these things, is not necessarily indicative of an upcoming game – featured a heavily armored demon knight stirring from his volcano fortress as lava surged all around. And the whole thing was completely playable running on an in-room machine powered by a single Nvidia Kepler GTX 680.

Apparently, the resulting torrent of particles would’ve caused any other engine to sputter, choke, and long for the heyday of text adventures, but this one can do millions without breaking a sweat. Environmental destruction, long-distance detail, natural-looking movement for fluids like lava, and general photorealism are also major focuses. So basically, this has more graphics than you can count – even if you use your hands and toes.

“‘Call of Duty was a game that a team of a few dozen could develop on PlayStation 2,’ Sweeney says. ‘Now Activision has hundreds of people working on Call of Duty for the current-gen consoles. What’s supposed to happen in the next generation? Are they going to have 4,000 people?’ To combat the bloat, Sweeney has stuffed UE4 with tools that promise shortened production pipelines and lower production costs… It will streamline game development, allowing studios to do in 12 months what can take two years or more today.”

Given that sustainability of these things has been a constant worry since Sony and Microsoft’s previous, now ancient consoleboxes launched, that’s a pretty big deal. It’s also incredibly big talk, so all eyes are now on Epic to back it up.

Admittedly, there are other worries as well. The new shots – while nice – aren’t really impressive in a jaw-dropping, “I have to show this to everyone I know” sense. I imagine it’s all much more impressive in motion, but frankly, last year’s “Samaritan” Unreal Engine 3 demo almost looks more immediately impressive to me.

Then again, modern videogame graphics have sort of hit a bar in terms of general beauty, and hoisting oneself noticeably above it has become an exercise in grunting, straining attrition. I suppose that’s another reason why these things don’t wow me as much as they used to: most “photorealistic” games look solid, at the very least. There aren’t really giant gulfs between mid-range and top-of-the-line titles anymore. It’s all simply – as I said earlier – normal.

The new iPhone 5 dates are basically now known. And the rumors of a larger, 4-inch screen are all-but confirmed. To be honest 4 inchs is not gonna cut it. If apple comes out with another rectangular, slightly larger duplicate of the 4s and I am sure to make the leap.  I use my phone as a media device and the note and the Galaxy 3 are looking very attractive at the moment!!!!!

HONG KONG—The new iPhone that Apple Inc. AAPL -0.20% is expected to unveil this year is likely to have a larger display than its current models have, with the company ordering bigger screens from its Asian suppliers, people familiar with the matter said.

The new screens measure at least 4 inches diagonally, the people said, compared with 3.5 inches on Apple’s latest model, the iPhone 4S. Production is set to begin next month, the people said. Analysts have predicted that the next iPhone will come out in the fall. The people said Apple is working with several screen makers on the new phone, including South Korea’s LG Display Co., LPL +3.22% Japan’s Sharp Corp. 6753.TO -3.07% and Japan Display Inc., which was created last month by three Japanese companies and the government.

Apple is facing intensified competition from Samsung Electronics Co. The South Korean company, the world’s biggest cellphone maker, recently unveiled a flagship smartphone with a 4.8-inch display, one of the largest smartphone screens available.

As Apple prepares for a launch of a new iPhone later this year, people familiar with the situation say the company is planning for a larger screen. Above, the Apple store in Hong Kong. The iPhone has had a 3.5-inch screen since the line made its debut in 2007.

Apple also has stuck with one size for its iPad tablet but is testing models with screens smaller than the current 9.7-inch display. Other manufacturers have produced a range of sizes. But the market has evolved rapidly and expanded over the past few years and is crowded with many brands in various sizes and prices.

Apple faces particularly fierce competition from Samsung, which sells a broader variety of phones. The two companies together account for more than half of the world’s smartphones. Samsung shipped 44.5 million smartphones to grab 30.6% of the global market in the first quarter, topping Apple’s 24.1%, with 35.1 million iPhones, according to market-research firm Strategy Analytics.

Analysts have projected that Samsung’s smartphone shipments will double this year and that the next iPhone will boost Apple’s shipments. Samsung has said that a new version of its Galaxy S III flagship smartphone will hit stores in Europe this month and in the U.S. this summer. The phone’s 4.8-inch screen is larger than the 4.3-inch display on the current model, the Galaxy S II. Taiwan’s HTC Corp. 2498.TW -3.26% also has smartphones with screens that are larger than 4 inches.

My perfect game is a Forza/GT real world cars racing on real world roads with the possibility of being chased by the police BUT with hardcore sim handling. I’ve been waiting nearly 15 years since I first played Need 4 Speed on the PC and it’s still not happened. Test Drive Unlimited seemed like it was possibly going to be the one but it handled, well, it didn’t handle.

In development at UK upstart Playground Games, which was formed in 2009 by ex-Codemasters execs Trevor Williams and Nick Wheelwright and staffed with veterans from Black Rock, Bizarre Creations and Slightly Mad, series spin-off Horizon is described as a “fast-paced, pick-up-and-play racing game”.

“This is the creative and management team that brought us Colin McRae, DiRT, GRID as well as Toca,” Forza 4 director Greenawalt told CVG when the game was first revealed. “Those guys stepped away from Codemasters studio and started their own studio about two years ago.

“At that same time we were looking for a partner to push our vision – gamers as car lovers and car lovers as gamers. We wanted them to embrace this vision but also come up with their own way of executing their own thoughts, so we could expand the house – not just duplicate it.”

TMZ is reporting that Donna Summer, aka the Queen of Disco, has died following a battle with cancer. She was 63. Other details surrounding her passing remain unknown, but she was apparently in Florida at the time of her death this morning.

Summer’s influence is about as wide-ranging and huge as it gets, with her career spanning more than 30 years and nearly 20 albums. She also has five Grammy Awards to her name, thanks to smash singles like “Last Dance” and “Hot Stuff,” among others. Her final studio recording, Crayons, was released in 2008 and was met with mostly favorable reviews.

GameSpot UK may have just made a lot of people happy with their recent discovery of resumes containing information of a Battlefield: Bad Company 3 and Mirrors Edge 2. If this is true, could we expect to see something announced at E3 2012 in June?

Various LinkedIn profile pages indicate DICE may be at work on third entry in shooter franchise, sequel to 2008 free-running game.

Battlefield: Bad Company 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2 have been spotted on various profile pages at professional networking site LinkedIn (tracked down by GamerZines), indicating DICE is possibly at work on sequels to its shooter and free-running franchises.

Is DICE reenlisting Bad Company?

 

The Bad Company 3 reference comes from a userwho said he “provided video game prototype, design, and demo feedback on various AAA titles including Battlefield: Bad Company 3, Dead Space 2, Devil May Cry 5, and other unannounced titles” between 2009 and 2011.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 shipped during March 2010, and to date, no mention has been made of a follow-up. A sequel to that title would not come as much of a surprise, as it won warm reviews upon launch, and sold nearly 6 million copies. A spin-off to the core Battlefield franchise, the Bad Company series launched in 2008 with the well-received original.

As for Mirror’s Edge 2, the profile page of an ex-EA software engineer says he worked on that game between July and August 2009, creating the “wandering of crowd system within the Unreal 3 Engine.” Yet another former EA employee’s page says he built “new gadget and interactive features” for Mirror’s Edge 2, as well as leaderboards and a minigame inside the Mirror’s Edge story.

A sequel to Mirror’s Edge has not been formally announced, but in June 2009, EA Games Europe vice president Patrick Soderlund confirmed a follow-up was in the works. At the time, he said, “You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it, and I’m excited about what we do.”

An EA representative told GameSpot, “We do not comment on rumors or speculation.”

New research from marketing agency Greenlight shows 44 percent of Facebook’s users say that they will “never” click on sponsored posts or display ads on Facebook.

General Motors caused a stir on Tuesday when it leaked that the company would stop running ads on Facebook due to them not being effective. GM will drop $10 million worth of ads, but it still plans spending $30 million on marketing through Facebook. That story was poor timing for Facebook, which will have its record-breaking IPO this Friday.

For its 2011-2012 Search & Social Survey, Greenlight surveyed 500 people, including students, medical staff, accountants, lawyers, and more to gain insight about their behavior on Facebook and their sentiments toward the company. On top of finding out 44 percent would never click on display ads, only 3 percent of respondents said they “regularly” clicked a sponsored and 10 percent said “often.”

Also notable is that 30 percent of those surveyed said they “strongly distrust” Facebook with their personal data, which somewhat lines up with CNBC polling earlier this week where 59 percent of people said they distrust Facebook on user data.

“With over 30% of respondents saying they ‘strongly distrust’ Facebook with their personal data, Facebook’s advertising program has an upward struggle,” Hannah Kimuyu, director of paid media at Greenlight, said in a statement. “Facebook’s advertising program allows brands to connect with more than 800 million potential customers, through targeting their age, gender, location, and interests, in other words – personal data.”

One plus side to Greenlight’s report is that the few users who did click on Facebook ads found “the targeting effective and engaging,” Kimuyu noted. Perhaps that’s a sign that people will be less wary of Facebook ads over time.

“Jersey Show” star Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio is adding another accolade to his resume: His own line of pre-mixed cocktails.

The drinks, dubbed Remix Pre-Game Cocktail, are vodka-based and come in a variety of flavors, including “Oye Mojito,” “Yeah Yumberry,” “Strawberry Holla-peno,” and starfruit. The venture is reportedly the result of a partnership between DelVecchio and liquor entrepreneur David Kanbar, a co-founder of “Real Housewives of New York” star Bethenny Frankel’s successful Skinnygirl cocktail line. Kanbar also serves as Remix’s lead investor.

According to a release, the line will launch this June in New Jersey, Rhode Island and other to-be-named markets.

The product’s website isn’t yet fully operational, but interested parties can check out the preview video below. Warning: Get ready for a lot of fist-pumping.

Starting in the U.S. over a decade ago, Ultra Music Festival is one of the largest electronic music events in the world. In 2012, the Miami festival brought 165,000 through the gates and is frequented by all major DJs and producers. Beyond its regular Florida location, UMF has expanded to locations overseas, including events in Argentina, Brazil, and South Korea. Proving itself to be a global force, UMF is now adding a two-day European festivalin Warsaw, Poland.

With most major European EDM festivals in Germany and the Netherlands, scheduling UMF’s first European performance in Poland seems like an odd choice. However, Poland has a strong EDM scene and is surrounded by 21 countries within a radius of 1,000 kilometers. UMF Poland will be held at the Hippodrome, a racetrack that’s twice the size of Miami’s Bayfront Park, and based on early ticket sales, concertgoers are coming from 31 countries.

UMF Poland is expected to be the largest EDM event ever held in the country. Mirroring the U.S. festival, UMF Poland will have six stages, including a Carl Cox & Friends tent. Headlining the festival, as of now, are Tiesto, Avicii, Afrojack, and Above & Beyond. The current lineup, by day, includes:

A New York man vows to go into debt to get a beloved pet back from his ex-girlfriend. And he’s not the only one willing to pick a legal fight over a barking companion.

Breaking up is hard to do. And for Craig Dershowitz, it’s getting awfully expensive. The 34-year-old New Yorker’s ex-girlfriend, Sarah Brega, took their dog, Knuckles, when she moved to California after their split, and he’s suing to get the puggle — half pug, half beagle — back. So far, he has spent $60,000 on the cross-country legal fight. Here, a brief guide to this canine custody battle, and the increasing number of cases just like it:

Why is this guy so desperate to get his dog back?
Dershowitz says Knuckles is more than a pet to him… the animal is his “son,” his “baby boy,” his “everything.” He says he raised “Knux” and cared for the dog since it was a puppy, registering it in his name and paying its vet bills. Dershowitz says he left the dog with Brega until he found a new place after they ended their four-year relationship. He agreed to share custody, but then, he says, Brega and Knuckles disappeared.

What did he do after Brega took the dog?
Dershowitz says he hired two private investigators to track down Brega, whom he accused of “dognapping” Knuckles. Then he filed a lawsuit to get the dog back. Dershowitz says his lawyer’s bills have drained his bank account, so he has set up a website, “Rescue Knux,” to solicit donations to finance his ongoing court battle. He’s offering donors a “virtual kiss” from Knuckles for a $10 donation, a “Free Knux” T-shirt for $25, and a portrait of the dog for $200. For $250, you can play fetch with the dog if it’s returned to New York. So far, he has raised about $1,200.

What does his ex say?
Brega says in court documents that Dershowitz “unconditionally gifted” her the dog. Besides, she says, “Knuckles lives a happy and healthy life in California with me, where he has ample room to play, and lives in close proximity to a beach for off-leash dog-park outings.” Dershowitz initially got a default judgment demanding the dog’s return, but Brega has since hired a lawyer to fight for the dog in New York and California courts.

Are there other cases like this?
Yes. In fact, the number of pet custody battles is rising. But these issues can give judges headaches, because while shared custody is common for children, pets are technically property. So like other things divvied up in divorce court, they must go to one party or the other. But as more people resolve to fight for their pets, that’s changing, divorce attorney Ken Altshuler tells The Associated Press. “Judges are viewing them more akin to children than dining room sets. They are recognizing that people have an emotional attachment to their animals.”

Even as Google overhauls its search engine, the tech giant is looking for ways to diversify its revenue streams. One possibility? This week, Google was awarded a patent  for “advertising based on environmental conditions,” suggesting that in the future, computers and handsets may deliver targeted ads tailored to fit with what you’re seeing and hearing in the real world. Here’s what you should know:

How would this work?
Theoretically, this advertising would “be served on the basis of a sensor that detects temperature, humidity, sound, light, or air composition near a device,” says Loek Essers at PC World. That technology could be applied to laptops, digital billboards, kiosks, vending machines, and even smartphones. For example, if it’s 80 degrees and sunny out, a billboard might automatically flash an ad for an icy-cold beverage. Or if you’re placing a call during a concert, Google could automatically feed the background noise into an algorithm, spurring your phone to deliver an offer for album downloads or concert tickets based on your music tastes.

Isn’t that creepy?
“Totally creepy,” says Megan Garber at The Atlantic. But Google swears that if this technology ever makes it to market, users will be able to opt out. And yet, one “wonders about the legality of the hypothetical operation in the 12 states that require everyone recorded to consent to that recording.”

Why is Google doing this?
In a way, this micro-targeted advertising is a logical direction for the company, which already delivers users customized experiences via their browsers. “There are elements of things from the film Minority Report happening in the real world, [and] this is just an extension of context-based advertising,” patent lawyer Andrew Alton tells the BBC. “It is what Google does anyway — combining people’s past history with search results or searches based on GPS location.”

How likely is this to become a reality?
Time will tell. Google devotes a sizable chunk of its resources to research and development, and is constantly filing patents to stay ahead of the curve. “Some of those ideas later mature into real products or services, some don’t,” a Google representative tells CNET. “Prospective product announcements should not necessarily be inferred from our patent applications.”

Look closer, you’ll see a BMW bike some where in there, I swear to you!

Lavishly appointed in carbon fiber and chrome, tuners at Bulgaria-base VILNER took up the challenges set by one wealthy Russian oligarch and transformed the BMW F 800 R into the VILNER Predator.

The requests were plenty and came at fast and furious pace from the client, who has one of the most exclusive motorcycle collection in Bulgaria. For six months, three VILNER tuners worked on the project, which called for 17 components – 9 carbon fiber and 8 chromed, to be completely hand made. Coated completely in black, VILNER shorten the overall length and made the bike into a single-seater. Gone were the original headlights and in their places, bright bi-xenon with menacing red LED lights instead. VILNER even took turn signals from the BMW Z4 and incorporated into the design. Left untouched for the most part, VILNED added a custom exhaust to the 798-cubic four-cycle engine for it to pump out 87 horsepower still. That is more than enough to propel this bike to a maximum speed of 125 miles per hour.

We all know the Siri says some funny things, but it looks like Apple wasn’t a fan of the automated assistant’s response to the question “What is the best smartphone ever?” The Next Web spotted that the assistant offered up the Lumia 900 as an answer to the question last week, but Apple has acted quickly and changed the response. You’ll now be told that the answer is indeed the iPhone 4S, with responses like “the one you’re holding” and “you’re kidding, right?” The issue was due to Siri’s heavy reliance on Wolfram Alpha (its searches represent 25 percent of all Wolfram queries), which chose the Lumia 900 as the best smartphone due to a catalog of four different five-star reviews. If you search Wolfram Alpha independent of Siri you’ll still be told that Nokia’s offering is the best, so Apple appears to have simply told its beta assistant to ignore the “knowledge engine” for this particular query.

Do you realize what it says about the EDM community that Paris Hilton is taken seriously enough to be among the peers of respected DJ’s?

After years on the banquette, Paris Hilton is taking it to the booth.

The nightclub-loving celebutante will make her DJ debut on June 23, at the 30,000-capacity Pop Music Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The one-hour set will follow performances by Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Clarkson.

“I cannot wait to DJ for the first time in front of thousands of people,” Hilton told Billboard exclusively. “I have been a part of the music scene and club scene since I was 15. It’s something I have been passionate about and have come to respect very much. I am very excited to share all of my hard work with the world.”

Over the last few months, Hilton has become a fixture on the international EDM circuit, appearing at clubs and festivals from Las Vegas to Ibiza, frequently with her boyfriend, Afrojack. She made the rounds with the hit-making DJ/producer in Miami this March, appearing in the booth beside him during his many performances, including on the main stage at the 50,000-strong Ultra Music Festival.

While she’s never DJ-ed before, Hilton, now 31, has tried her hand as a dance music artist. “Stars Are Blind,” the lead single off her 2006 debut album, “Paris,” was remixed by EDM stars like Chus & Ceballos, Tracy Young and The Scumfrog, and hit No. 1 on Dance Club/Play Songs. Late last year, she released “Drunk Text,” a collaboration with DJ/producer duo Manufactured Superstars, and starred in the accompanying video.

Sources say that her set will contain “custom-made remixes of the best tracks,” and won’t just be a one-off. “It is going to be the first of many!” said Hilton.

Twitter has begun sending users a weekly email digest of the “most relevant” tweets and stories shared by the people they follow.

Twitter revealed a new email digest feature it plans to roll out to all users in the next few weeks that summarizes top stories and tweets in their networks. The new weekly summary feature, which was announced on the company’s blog Monday, is already available to some users, said Othman Laraki, Twitter’s growth and international director.

“This summary features the most relevant tweets and stories shared by the people you’re connected to on Twitter,” Laraki said in the blog post. The feature is described as being similar to Twitter’s “Discover” tab found on the top bar, which the social network redesigned earlier this month.

The feature comes just four months after Twitter acquired Canadian start-up Summify, which is a service that sends users emails summarizing the top stories from their Twitter and Facebook networks as well as other services, such as Google Reader.

Following Twitter’s acquisition of Summify, the start-up sent an email to users saying the service would eventually discontinue. Twitter on Monday declined to comment on whether this new service meant the end of Summify. As users gain the new email digest feature, they can change their preferences by going to their notification settings, the company said in the blog post.

AMD has revealed its answer to Intel’s Ivy Bridge ultrabook chip: Trinity, the second generation of its accelerated processing unit.

AMD has spent quite some time playing second-fiddle to Intel’s CPUs, and without some raw performance data, it’ll be hard to see how the new Trinity APUs stack up, but AMD says that Trinity hits the performance threshold set by the first-generation Llano processor and purportedly remains competitive with Intel’s Ivy Bridge offerings. Fortunately, AMD has received a few design wins to prove its case — we checked out HP’s Envy Sleekbook just a week ago, but Acer, Asus, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba are also jumping onto the Trinity bandwagon.

Trinity is being aimed at ultrathin notebooks (not to be confused with Intel Ultrabooks), smaller form factor desktops and All-in-Ones, though traditional mainstream laptops and desktops will also see Trinity APUs. AMD will be launching five APUs today. The A10-4600M, A8-4500M, and A6-4400M are aimed at larger, mainstream notebooks, while the A10-4655M and A6-4455M are destined for sleeker ultrathin models.

AMD’s Trinity APUs will mark the debut of the company’s Piledriver microarchitecture, the successor to the ill-received Bulldozer. Trinity is still based on a 32nm process — Intel, by contrast, recently moved to 22nm with Ivy Bridge. Trinity’s die size is actually a bit larger than Llano’s: 246 square millimeters, compared to the first generation APU’s 228 square millimeters. Trinity also features a higher transistor count at 1.3 billion, but dials the TDP for its notebook variants down to 17W for dual-core CPUs, and 35W for quad-core CPUs, the same as Ivy Bridge — Llano APUs required 35W and 45W for dual- and quad-core, respectively. Desktop Trinity remain at the same 65 to 100W of its Llano predecessors. AMD claims that the dual-core Trinity APU will perform at the same level as the dual-core Llano APU, effectively doubling the performance per watt with the new generation. AMD also claims that Trinity notebooks can expect as 12 hours of battery life (when idle) on their energy efficient Piledriver cores.

•  AMD Perfect Picture HD: The first step in that transparent user experience is automatic video processing, which will make fine adjustments to image quality on the fly. We were told that this will ultimately come at a cost to potential battery life, albeit a meager one.
• AMD Quickstream: Most of us spend a fair bit of time watching videos on the web, and have run into the dreaded buffering bar. Quickstream aims to handle bandwidth intelligently: when the PC detects that an application or website is hitting the GPU, Quickstream will assign it a higher priority, theoretically ensuring a smoother experience.
• AMD Video Converter: Dedicated hardware-based encoding lets Trinity transcode media files faster and more efficiently. The technology also enables full-HD, multi-person video conferencing; AMD is working with companies like Polycom to develop software.
• AMD Steady Video: We’ve seen Steady Video before; it was introduced with Llano, and its purpose is to, stabilize shaky recorded video. It’s currently supported by Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Windows Media Player — Trinity adds support for VLC, in an upcoming software update.
• AMD Eyefinity: Eyefinity isn’t new, but Trinity will be able to support the multi-display technology without needing a discrete GPU: that means ultrathin laptops that can potentially output to three displays — not including their native monitor.

Max Payne 3 is an action lover’s wet dream that also happens to employ some of the slickest direction and transitional trickery this side of a David Fincher box set. Lock and load. It’s bullet time…time.

Rumor has it Apple is looking to make the MacBook Pro even more slim. It doesn’t come without some compromises. The Ethernet port will be removed and offered as a USB dongle option, and the optical drive will be no more. Folks who relied heavy on DVD or CD media will be SOL. These changes are sure to cause a stir at first, but I’m sure people will just get use to it and move on as they always do. On the bright side, USB 3.0 and a Retina Display are to be introduced to the lineup.

Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak said investors looking to make money should buy Facebook Inc. shares when the social networking site sells stock in what may be a record initial public offering for an Internet business.

Wozniak, who built the first Apple computer with Steve Jobs and co-founded the company with him in 1976, said he would consider buying the stock regardless of its valuation this week. Mark Zuckerberg, who started Facebook while a student at Harvard University in 2004, combines Wozniak and Jobs’s talents, he said in an interview yesterday.

Facebook’s IPO, scheduled for May 17, plans to raise as much as $11.8 billion and values the operator of the world’s most popular social networking site at as much as $96 billion. Investors in the sale are betting the company’s database of 526 million daily active users makes it worth about 99 times the net income earned in the 12 months through March 31.

“I would invest in Facebook,” Wozniak said in an interview with Bloomberg Television in Sydney. “I don’t care what the opening price is.”

A Bloomberg poll of investors conducted May 8 found 79 percent thought the valuation implied by the IPO was too high.

The Menlo Park, California-based company is offering 337.4 million shares at $28 to $35.

“It’s a bit of a gamble,” Paul Budde, an independent telecommunications analyst, said by phone from Bucketty, Australia today. “There are plenty of risks along the line.”

The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of. We truly believe that we have something very special on our hands and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.

We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait. The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.

Facebook has started testing a system that lets users pay to highlight or promote posts. By paying a small fee users can ensure that information they post on the social network is more visible to friends, family and colleagues.

Facebook may soon be worth A Lot Of Money, but what’s the plan to monetize that doesn’t involve advertisers? Turns out you may have to pay Facebook a small amount to promote highlighted posts. Facebook is reportedly testing the feature, which would charge users $2 in order to highlight important posts to gain more visibility and clicks.

One user accidentally stumbled across the payment page and at first thought it was a scam, but a spokesperson for Facebook has confirmed that it is a new feature that is currently being tested. “We’re constantly testing new features across the site. This particular test is simply to gauge people’s interest in this method of sharing with their friends.”

The spokesperson went on to say that Facebook is testing different price points for the feature, and may not charge at all. Users will see different amounts across the trial, which would see them adding to their balance via PayPal or credit card in order to pay for highlighted posts. We can’t imagine typical users getting much out of the feature, especially if it is paid, but brands and companies would probably see value in the idea.

It comes ahead of Facebook’s IPO, rumored to go live this week. While many are hoping to pick up shares in Facebook, skeptics are wondering if the company is really worth the $80-90 billion it will be valued at. Insiders have also claimed that there’s more demand than shares on offer: good news for Facebook, but potentially bad for those looking to get in from the start.

New from Eberhard & Co.

For 2012 Eberhard & Co. will release these two rather clean looking sport watches called the Champion V. These are new versions of older Eberhard Champion watch collection pieces released about 20 years ago. The same sober looks are maintained while the Champion V watches are more modern in each way. I don’t know why, but in their press release each time they write "Champion V," the Roman numeral 5 is done in a red font.

There are going to be two distinct Champion V models. One will just be called the Champion V and the other will be called the Champion V Grande Date. While they are both decent watches I must admit to not understanding why the two models exists. I think they should have just made the Champion V Grande Date. Let me explain…

Both versions offer multiple dial styles and colors. The styles range a lot actually and dial colors can come in blue, black, or white with different trims. The two watches have the same case – which is 42.80mm wide and 14.45mm thick. So what is the difference? Well they have different movements.

The aluminum device is attached to a nylon backpack, complete with notebook compartment. when not in use for travel, the scooter’s rear segment is folded inside the backpack, nonetheless retaining space for other items. For riding, a user simply zips apart the backpack, fastens the front and back wheels, and secures all bag straps to prevent them from getting caught on the ground.

For a minute there I thought Lexus forgot about the SC, seeing as how it was the only model that did not receive a re-design. Judging from the image, looks like Lexus is out to make it up to us!

While it’s almost certainly pure speculation, the surrounding Japanese text suggests this next-gen SC would be powered by the same 3.5L V6 hybrid powertrain found in the GS 450h — a sensible choice, I suppose, but hopefully only one of the available engine options.

GameStop CEO J. Paul Raines told us that his company could become a high-tech pawn shop one day, refurbishing all kinds of used gadgets, instead of just stocking games and the occasional phone or tablet. Today, a leaked screenshot at Kotaku suggests that the company may be ready for the next stage of its plan: selling used Apple laptops. According to the screenshot, which could admittedly be filled with placeholders rather than actual prices, MacBooks could start as low as $459.99. There’s a listing for a refurbished 11-inch MacBook Air with a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor at $749.99, a bit more than the $699.99 that Apple usually charges, while an 17-inch MacBook Pro with a 2.4GHz Core i7 processor might be found for $2,099.99, which seems like it could be a bit less. As an added bonus, the Xbox version of IE9 is rumored to support Kinect, meaning gamers will be able to control their Internet browsing from across the room with simple gestures. Personally, I can see this working quite well with a swipe left for backwards, a swipe right for forwards and so on. I think most gamers would be able to pick up on gesture controls for surfing the web for rather quickly, as two taps to load a page or a wave to refresh a page would be fairly intuitive. Unfortunately, the sources didn’t indicate a specific launch window, but if there’s any substance to the rumor, with E3 kicking off next month, we are sure to hear more within weeks. It’s also worth noting that the Kinect accessory isn’t actually required for browsing, so IE9 for the Xbox 360 should support a standard controller. If the above-mentioned report is true, it would obviously be very good move on Microsoft’s part and could help significantly improve Internet Explorer’s standing in the ongoing browser wars.

Often rumored but never confirmed, reports that Apple is to release its own range of televisions have been given another huge boost after Foxconn chairman Terry Gou revealed the company is currently preparing for the manufacturing of the company’s new television products.

Apple television rumors continue to swirl, and now the head of Foxconn has seemingly confirmed that the television is being put into production soon. Terry Gou, chief of Foxconn, gave a speech at the start of the building of the new Foxconn headquarters, spilling the beans by saying that the company was preparing to manufacture the TV.

China Daily picked up on the crucial lines, reporting that Gou said the company was “making preparations for iTV”, and that the recent 50/50 partnership with Sharp over a new factory in Japan was part of the preparations for the television. It comes after Cult of Mac scored new details about the device, detailing the use of Siri in order to initiate FaceTime calls, and how the design was similar to the current Cinema Displays.

Other rumors have indicated that the television will feature Sharp’s IGZO panels, allowing for brighter and more efficient displays. Gou’s admission that Foxconn is planning to partner with Sharp seemingly backs that up. Additional information has pegged the television for a Q4 launch, with components currently shipping to suppliers, although one analyst has recently said that the TV wouldn’t make an appearance until 2013.

Samsung may say that the use of PenTile on its Super AMOLED HD displays is in order to keep it working for longer, but is the company holding out on us?

SamMobile has heard from a source saying that the current Tizen prototype being used features a Super AMOLED HD Plus display, indicating the use of a full RGB matrix. The device was recently handed out at the Tizen Developers Conference in San Francisco.

SamMobile say that the internal codename for the device is “Fraser”, and features a model number of GT-i9500. They speculate that the reason that Samsung doesn’t use Plus panels in phones like the Galaxy S III is due to the difficult production process, instead testing the displays in developer devices such as the Tizen.

The use of PenTile panels has been a source of contention for tech reviewers and consumers. The reduced number of subpixels can lead to fringing on colors and text, and can be noticed depending on eyesight and viewing distance. Samsung say that PenTile panels have reduced power requirements, and that the last longer than other AMOLED counterparts. That didn’t stop the company from using a full RGB matrix in the Galaxy S II, and one of the vicious rumors surround the Galaxy S III was the use of a Super AMOLED HD Plus display.

Those rumors didn’t pan out, and the Galaxy S III features a PenTile matrix like the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note. The screen size sees a bump over the Galaxy Nexus panel, coming in at 4.8-inches with a 720p resolution compared to 4.65-inches. Samsung also says that it managed to slim down the bezel surrounding the display.

Warner Bros will release a widely-expected LEGO Lord of the Rings game.

Packaging for LEGO’s new line of LOTR toys, inspired by the three Peter Jackson movies based on the books, reveals the title is on the way.

Earlier in the year we predicted that the new line of toys would pave the way for a game.

Bloggers and toy reviewers have ben receiving early versions of the sets due out later this summer, and have posted pictures of the small packaging promos online. Blurry images online show logos for developer Traveller’s Tales and its parent Warner.

New LEGO Super Hero sets likewise teased LEGO Batman 2 earlier this year – although in that instance Warner Bros did not confirm the game’s existence officially for some time.

Warner will likely officially unveil LEGO Lord of the Rings either in the coming weeks leading to E3 or at the show itself.

Traveller’s Tales and parent TT Games secured the LEGO licence back in 2004, and since then has made a series of adaptations turning branded toys into respected games, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Carribbean and Harry Potter.

Many of those games were also inspired by multi-part film series and warranted more than one gamma adaptation. While the Lord of the Rings game and sets are out this year, Warner’s New Line Cinema division is releasing the first of two The Hobbit movies this Christmas, so the same model may apply to this new lucrative franchise.

The company has reportedly been working on its own Maps service for the next version of its iOS platform, meaning it might kick Google Maps off the operating system.

When Apple launches iOS 6 later this year, it might come with a new Maps application, according to a new report. Apple has been secretly developing a Google Maps alternative that it will bundle with iOS 6, 9to5Mac is reporting today, citing “trusted” sources. Dubbed simply “Maps,” the application will replace Google Maps on the iOS platform and deliver a “much cleaner, faster, and more reliable experience” than its predecessor.

As with Google Maps, Apple’s Maps application will provide driving directions and pinpoint locales on a map, according to 9to5Mac. In addition, it’ll come with a StreetView-like experience and a 3D mode for viewing places in a more realistic way. Over the last few years, Apple has been quietly acquiring mapping companies that 9to5Mac says, are working on the application. A Swedish firm Apple bought last year, called C3 Technologies, has been working on the 3D feature, while its other recent buys, Placebase and Poly9, might have been hard at work on the database, directions, and other features. Apple acquired Placebase back in 2009 for its mapping service, which worked quite similarly to Google Maps.

Apple has been slowly but surely pushing Google Maps away. Back in March, Apple’s iOS iPhoto application switched from Google Maps to OpenStreetMap data. However, Apple didn’t acknowledge the changeover until earlier this month.

Startup iCache’s answer to mobile payments is an iPhone cover has a fingerprint scanner, e-ink display, and smart card able to turn into your credit or debit card.

NEW ORLEANS–Paying for goods or services at the checkout counter with your phone is the holy grail of mobile payments, something Google, the credit card companies, and the wireless providers are all trying to figure out. But until that goes mainstream, startup iCache has a pretty novel approach for people who want to leave their wallet at home. The company’s Geode product acts as both an iPhone cover and digital wallet, while packing a single programmable smart card.

It works like this: a user enters in their debit and credit card information through an included mag stripe reader, which attaches to the bottom of the cover. They can also store loyalty cards by taking a photo of the bar code. The cards can be pulled up and selected through a free iPhone app. The included smart card, which fits into a sleeve on the back of the cover, can be programmed to temporarily act as any of the stored cards. Simply pick an account on the app, and the smart card is programed with the right information. The card itself contains a smart chip and mag stripe that can be changed according to the account chosen. A user takes the card out, taps it once to activate it with the right account, and can be used for a limited time like a regular credit or debit card. The default is for the card to work for 20 seconds or until used, after which it goes back to being a dummy card.

An e-ink display on the rear can show the bar code for any loyalty card, allowing for easy scanning. The e-ink display gets around the inability by most scanners to read normal smartphone screens.For security’s sake, the app is secured through a biometric reader on the front of the cover, and won’t start without the swipe of the appropriate finger.

Geode, which actually started as a crowd-sourced Kickstarter project, was a darling of the CTIA Wireless show, winning an award in the mobile commerce category. Geode doesn’t use new technology, doesn’t require any new infrastructure or equipment on the retailer part, and can be used anywhere credit, debit, or loyalty cards are accepted. It acts as a bridge to the broader deployment of near-field communication, or NFC, which allows the phones themselves to act like credit cards. Geode emerges as the mobile payments segment explodes. It was a critical topic at the conference, with executives from both MasterCard and Visa making keynote speeches about the opportunities that come from mobile payments. MasterCard actually unveiled its own digital wallet on Monday.

- There are 3 seperate campaigns combined in one story, all taking place across the globe: Sherry and Jake, Leon, and Chris.

- Leon’s first mission, taking place in a University, will be a throwback to the original RE games in which horror and atmospheric tension are the key elements in place.

From the very beginning microsoft made it clear, Bing was NOT a search engine. They went out on a limb and branded it a “decision” engine. This is something still foreign to a lot of folk, mainly because the world uses Google in general. However, if you gave bing a try for a few days, it was easy to understand the branding decision made by Microsoft.

And then, BOOM! They drop another update making it even more of a decision affair. The new bing brings a long with it a metro’isk look and feel and some really nice social network integration. You’ll be able to see off to the side, a list of friends from your social network feeds that might have some insight on your search query, how cool is that!? In designing the latest watch for an Italian accessories brand NAVA, British designer Benjamin Hubertset the task of challenging the conventional notion of watches. It is obvious by looking at the finished product, that there are several elements, which gives this watch a distinct aesthetic. First thing that jumps into the eyes are the 3D face, constructed like a fan, showing time without the need of bars or numbers. Second improvement comes in the form of revised strap closure, eradicating the use of buckles. Last detail is slightly subtle, yet it serves a great purpose especially in the summer season. The corrugated underside of the polyurethane wristband helps to ventilate, thus minimizing the development of sweat.

Welcome to 2010 Sprint. We have had Push to Talk apps on Android for a while now. No Sprint branding required.

Sprint’s been rather quiet at this year’s CTIA Wireless in New Orleans, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been sitting around without making any sort of noise. This morning, the Now Network let the cat out of the bag about Direct Connect Now, which is a service that will allow any regular smartphone user the opportunity to use the company’s push-to-talk services in very similar fashion to devices that come with PTT already built into the hardware. How is this made possible? Simply put, there’s an app for that — or at least, there will be one coming to Google Play at an unspecified time in the not-too-distant future. This doesn’t mean Sprint is giving up on hardware-based Direct Connect devices: new models will continue to be released going forward, but more smartphone users will at least have an opportunity to take advantage of the services in one way or another. According to the article, this is a “…6 month project to investigate an Ubuntu laptop. If successful, we have big plans for the effort.” this is a somewhat interesting path for Dell to take on making a laptop. I would assume the market would be very low for something like this?

It’s unclear how closely they are working with upstream, but there’s mention of Canonical as a commercial partner so this may mean Dell is working to ensure some of their hardware Just Works ™ with Ubuntu. The software side is so far just a customized install with developer tools preinstalled. Ars remains skeptical about Dell’s strategy for GNU/Linux support, which may be warranted given their track record.

“Barton George, director of marketing for Dell’s Web vertical reveals information about ‘Project Sputnik’, a laptop tailored for developer needs in web companies. ‘We want to find ways to make the developer experience as powerful and simple as possible. And what better way to do that than beginning with a laptop that is both highly mobile and extremely stylish, running the 12.04 LTS release of Ubuntu Linux’, George ponders and, gives a quick list of packages that the default installation could include. The machine will base on the XPS13, assessing a couple of its main hardware deficiencies along the way.”

“Adscend Media, which has been making up to $20M a year from so-called ‘likejacking’ spam on Facebook, has reached an agreement with the Attorney General of Washington to stop those activities and pay $100,000 in court costs. Among other nefarious techniques, Adscend would overlay Facebook ‘like’ buttons with provocative photos to spread links to ads from which Adscend would earn referral fees. Yoshikazu Tanaka, Japan’s youngest billionaire, has seen an estimated $700 million wiped from the value of his shareholding in Gree, the online game provider he founded, in the face of news that Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency is investigating the “Complete Gatcha” (kompugacha) mechanism used to monetize many of his company’s games.

Sources close to the CAA, according to Japan’s Yomiuri Shinbun, are reporting that the agency is close to announcing that kompugacha is in violation of Japanese consumer law.

Tanaka, 35, whose fortune was estimated by Forbes to be $4.3 billion in March 2012, holds a 48.8% stake in Gree, shares of which plummeted 23% Monday on news of the investigation- the largest fall permitted by Tokyo Stock Exchange listing rules. DeNA, another mobile gaming giant and operator of the Mobage mobile games store, which recently signed an agreement with Disney to promote social and mobile gaming, fell 20% on the same day.

Kompugacha, onomatopoeically named for the sound of a prize dropping out of a vending machine, is a system not unlike card collecting which takes place inside games. The games themselves – such as DeNA’s popular Idolm@ster – Cinderella Girls - are free to play, but within the game random items can be purchased for real money from in-game vending machines. Much like baseball cards, it can take many attempts to obtain a “rare” or “ultra-rare” virtual collectible using this system.

The sale of some form of virtual goods is increasingly looked to as a way for the gaming sector to monetize its players, in Japan and elsewhere. Social games like Zynga’s Farmville make money through a mix of advertising and the exchange of virtual gifts between players. Many free-to-play massively multiplayer games sell in-game items which make the gameplay less tiresome (such as horses to facilitate fast movement between locations) – the challenge being to promote the sales of premium items without unbalancing play to the point of alienating the mass of players required to make the game viable. Other items may do nothing more than make the player’s avatar look prettier – “horse armor”, as it often known after the purely cosmetic armor sold to players of Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

At the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III, one unexpected inclusion was the Flipboard app — supposedly exclusive to the handset for the first few months. However, despite the fact that the Galaxy S III hasn’t even been released yet, the Flipboard APK has been posted to the xda-developers forums, allowing any handset to grab the social newsreader.

We grabbed the app and loaded it onto an HTC One X, where it runs totally smoothly, and it’s worth noting that xda’s forum members say it runs just as well on older handsets like the original Galaxy S.

Setting up the app is as simple as picking the topics you’re interested in, with Flipboard suggesting common categories, then swiping through the headlines (with large, eye-catching images) until you find something you want to read. From there, tapping through to the story lets you swipe through the pages in the same way. One promised component of the app that hasn’t made it to the leaked APK is the widget view, suggesting that this might be an early build, but it’s stable enough for everyday use. If you decide to give it a try, you’ll need to toggle the “Allow installation of non-Market apps” under your Android phone’s security settings.

Now this is what i call bonus content! Capcom has released Lost Episode 1 of Asura’s Wrath for the PS3 and Xbox 360. In this DLC, Asura meets his equal as Street Fighter’s Ryu challenges him to a duel. This is a great DLC and the kicker is that its only $2!

CyberConnect2 did a great job incorporating Ryu into the game while staying true to Street Fighter’s roots. A mission list with multiple challenges unlocks after completing the episode, so there’s quite a bit of replay value as well. Not bad for two dollars.

Lost Episodes 1: At Last, Someone Angrier Than Me is now available on PSN and XBL for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points). The Akuma DLC for Asura’s Wrath is scheduled to release on May 15th for the same price. It’s worth noting that you can play this DLC even if you haven’t started the main game yet.

The long running rumor about an Apple TV device, which has Siri and FaceTime equipped, has surfaced yet again. This time the boys at Cult of Mac claim to have got the information from a well placed source, who informed them of the Siri and FaceTime packed Apple TV.

“The Apple HDTV makes FaceTime calls using the built-in iSight camera. The camera is sophisticated, with facial recognition and the ability to zoom into the user’s face and follow them as they walk around the room. This allows users to make video calls from the couch across the room, rather than having to stand smack in front of the TV. 

In addition, calls are initiated by Siri, the iPhone 4S’s virtual assistant. “[Apple] used Siri to make a FaceTime call,” the source said.”

Sound good to us.

An analyst who spoke to Cult of Mac said Apple could release two to four Apple TV devices. The TVs are expected to support 1080p HD resolution. However, those who were expecting OLED or $4k tech inside are out of luck. When it comes to pricing, expect from $1,000 to $2000, though for some reason that seems a little bit too expensive. Yes, we know it’s Apple, but selling a TV at those price ranges won’t cut it.

We have no idea when this device will see the light of day, though a 2013 release date seems likely.

With the iMac holding its own in terms of sales, the All in One solution as proven to be a game worth getting into. Lenovo outs their two new entries, just in time for Windows 8 as well.

The Edge 92z is so named for its thin design, based around a full HD 21.5” LED Infinity Screen. Its slim 2.5inches wide frame houses as good as an Intel i7 processor and 2 GB of Discrete graphics. The PC will be USB 3.0 compatible, has HDMI in and out ports, and features an EE3.0 RapidBoot Accelerator, for 30% faster boot-up times. Multitasking is managed and driven by VMU software. The Edge 92z uses Think VoIP and is Microsoft Lync certified. There is also echo and noise suppression, ideal for offices where you don’t want employees distracting each other. Finally, and perhaps most intriguingly, there will be Windows 8 Touch support for that 21.5” screen, with multi-touch included as an extra option.

The M92z is the Edge’s slightly more bulky cousin, and is based around a 23” IPS LED panel with anti-glare and multi-touch. It can also be powered by as good as an Intel i7 processor, and, like the Edge, is equipped with Think VoIP. The M92z also packs in a pretty healthy 16 GB of RAM. THE ICE2 system manages the performance of the PC, keeping it cool and lengthening the life of the M92z. It, too, is Microsoft Lync certified, and features noise and echo suppression. It’s also looking like one of the most eco-friendly PCs on the market, with a glut of green certifications backing it.

Both ThinkCentre PCs are being marketed towards businesses big and small because of their multitasking and sound suppression features. Best of all might be the space-saving nature of the all-in-one PC, which makes installation in bulk at the office a very simple matter.

Pricing for the super skinny Edge 92z will start at $699 when it lands in July. Meanwhile, pricing for the M92z will start at $799 when it goes on sale in June.

For those who aren’t familiar with the wheels by now, they’re made by Vossen and go by the name of CV1. Sure, they may be pretty common on these cars but there is no denying that they look great. Fronts are sitting at 20×9 while the rears are at 20×10.5. Ryan finally slammed the car on BC Racing coilovers. Final look is just awesome that we’re sure breaks many necks. Apparently Ryan is already sitting lower since these photos were taken, much lower actually. Perhaps it’s time to go 10.5 all around or even something completely different and more aggressive?

Starhawk, the Playstation 3 exclusive is finally here. This is the follow up to the PSN online-only launch game Warhawk. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Many people have been following this game because its Warhawk sister was such a great game for early PS3 owners.

This Starhawk will have a story (campaign) this year, unlike its Warhawk sister. So many players will have more bang for their buck. Now, the CAMPAIGN is a standalone product but it will prep you for ONLINE BATTLES. The last iteration of the game was run-n-gun. This time you can build things to implement a strong strategy on top of the gun action. Sounds cool, right?

There will be a lot to do in this game. Campaign, COOP and MP will all have its own thunder. As a third-person shooter player myself, I am considering adding this game to my roster.

This IGN Review said that this is the BEST MULTIPLAYER for the PS3… Could it really be better than Uncharted 3′s MP? Well X-Play did say it was the best MP at E3 2011.

There’s been heavy speculation over whether Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi horror film Prometheus would receive an R-rating.

According to a pre-sale ticket stub, the MPAA has handed down an R-rating for Prometheus.  I’m not sure if that automatically makes the movie better, but I’m happy for the opportunity to see an ambitious summer blockbuster with an R-rating.  The last R-rated sci-fi summer blockbuster I can recall is 2003′s The Matrix Reloaded.  However, it’s late and I’m tired, so I might be forgetting another R-rated summer sci-fi movie released since then. Glad to see someone is getting some use out of the PS3. This PC sounds like an amazing build.

Gaming’s goodwill processor–the one inside the PlayStation 3–has proved once again that it’s around for more than just kicking butt in Grand Theft Auto. We’ve seen the system help fight cancer with protein-folding research and CT tumor scans. And now the same technology that, on a small scale, helps the careening cars in GTA IV skid, flip and crash like real ones is helping scientists on a much larger scale.

Researchers at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in New Mexico have used microprocessors developed for the PS3 to power the fastest supercomputer on earth, the Roadrunner. This new extreme machine will help to model the world’s physical reactions in the face of extremely complex, multivariate situations–like the future of changing weather patterns or radioactive fallout simulations.

LANL brass, like other supercomputer researchers across the country, have been looking to amp up aging extreme machines. They recognized that the PS3′s powerhouse microchip core, the Cell, had computational power that could make their own virtual calculations both faster and “smarter”–a term used to describe a computer’s ability to handle multiple problems at once.

The PS3 Cell speeds up the gaming system’s ability to assimilate virtual situations based on player choices; essentially it makes a player’s screen behave more like the real world. The Cell does this by breaking up information and processing problems among eight simple processing elements (SPEs), each of which simultaneously perform computations while retrieving and sending data. So the SPEs function like team members splitting up tasks in an organized, self-sufficient manner–where other, slower processors function more like a single unit.

Programmers at LANL first worked with IBM to tweak the Cell in 2007, and have now fully integrated it into Roadrunner. LANL announced today that it has broken supercomputer speed records by performing 1.026 quadrillion calculations per second (in computing language, 10^15 calculations per second, a long coveted goal, is known as a petaflop). That’s more than twice as many as the world’s previous fastest supercomputer at Livermore National Laboratory California.

The Roadrunner will be used to model climate-change problems before moving into classified research for the military that will test the effects of nuclear weaponry, potentially replacing dangerous real-world testing applications with virtual ones.

Sony’s PS3 has taken a lot of flack over the past couple of years. We know this development won’t drive console sales, but with this information in mind current PS3 owners may find new respect for the mini-supercomputer sitting inconspicuously in their living room.

Toyota is on a roll! The Lexus LFA has enjoyed its fair share of excitement followed by the Toyota FT-86. Now, reports surface once again pointing to the return of the Supra!

American magazine Motor Trend reports that the carmaker will look to the technology developed with the GRMN Sports Hybrid concept pair.

The concepts are built on the remains of the last MR2/MR-S roadster, but power is provided by a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing a total output of 220kW.

In Supra form, the system would likely develop a good whack more than that, with even the new Lexus GS 450h hybrid‘s 3.5 V6 and electric motor combo delivering 252kW.

The report adds that the V6 engine would power the rear wheels of the Supra, while the electric motor would power the front axle for an all-wheel-drive arrangement.

As always, it remains to be seen how much of this report can be believed, but one thing is certain: if Toyota builds it, the fans will come.
