Female ‘Expendables’ in Development
The Expendables 2 hit theaters this weekend, which features a huge cast of veteran action stars like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Well, it looks like there’s a similar type of film in development, but this time will have a team of female action stars.
Variety has this exclusive report, stating that Adi Shankar (executive producer to Killing Them Softly and Dredd) will be making an all-female version of the Expendables under his 1984 Private Defense Contractors banner, with Dutch Southern to write the script.
There are currently in negotiations with “several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre,” which makes me curious to who they have in mind. There are a couple of woman that come to mind, like Michelle Rodriguez or Milla Jovovich, but that’s if we thinking present day actresses. If they plan on taking the Expendables route, they should consider Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton or even Lucy Lawless.
This is definitely an interesting idea. Who would you guys like to see star in a female version of the Expendables?
