Wow! IGN is being sold because they do not want to play ball. According to The Wall Street Journal, IGN could be getting a new owner in the new future after News Corp announces they’ll be selling off the company soon.
Starhawk’s makers, Lightbox gets kicked to the curb and Wii U is abusing the kids? But Martin loves the kid? How about Mario! So many questions, answers in the links below!
Newscorp initially shopped IGN around to potential buyers but the slow progress made them decide on using the auction method to sell off the company at a quicker pace. Newscorp is hoping the sale ends up in the $100 million range as a way to salvage some money from their investment which was initially bought in 2005 at the price of $650 million.
The official reason for the decision to sell IGN is due to Newscorp starting to split or spin off their entertainment assets from their journalism assets. IGN along with their own network assets fell under News Corp’s entertainment division and something not viewed as part of the company’s future with the new spin-off plans.
