iPhone 5, Great In It’s Own Right Or Just Another Great White Hype?
It was an early September morning, I had awaken to the sound of a blaring HTC Titan II; shouting a tune from ‘Ace Hood’, that for a brief moment thrusts me into a dream of a rowdy club scene right before opening my eyes. The Time is 10A.M. and I am immediately reminded of the long day I have ahead of me; by the list of emails and a text from my colleague. “Apple is the word of the day!” I am now contorting my face at the very thought of something significant spilling out of every ones desktop or laptop at 1 o’clock P.M. from the fruit baring company. After a mediocre breakfast, and a well timed delay by my girlfriend, I would take this time to watch the Live Blog of Apple debuting their newest iPhone.
At a first glance, I begin to believe that 3 hours had actually not passed, and I am still dreaming that Apple has finally made the mockery of themselves as was predicted they would eventually do. No…I wasn’t dreaming! “Gosh the iPhone 5 sure looks like the iPhone 4S!”, is what comes to mind. I then realized that was just my better senses being facetious. Then without a moment passing, the biggest smile comes to my face, as I utter the words…”They did it again”!!!
For those that may be reading and wondering if they may have just entered into the land of Déjà vu, no you are actually still in 2012. The moans and groans became ever increasing as time went on, from Twitter feeds, to Facebook updates, even on your favorite tech sites you would find comments that were nothing too dissimilar to the hissing and booing of an auditorium filled with Nay Sayers.
Now if I may give my “gadget guy” feelings about the device, I have to say that it was simple and predictable! No one in their right mind would have thought, or believed that this device would be less than attractive. The device is beautiful, but in its own right. Lets be honest, the iPhone 5 is no pageant winner, but it could be considered ‘Girl Next Door’ cute. Tall, slim and glossy right? Minus the matte of course! Sure it looks like something you would not mind knowing, but its still nothing you don’t know and a fancy dress does not turn the local Jezebel into a future wife. All in all, I would not dare to believe that the Apple stores won’t have a line that snakes outside of the store, around the corner and up the block. There are just too many “Apple Heads” in the world for that not to be so, but will this be the device that set a bar as did it’s predecessors before? You certainly won’t get a yes from me there. The competition this time around is much too great with companies like Samsung and the Galaxy S III; currently holding on to the number one spot as the highest selling smartphone for 2012, and with coming Nokia Lumia 920 that promises a load of specs that would tickle the fancy of any nerd on the known planet. The iPhone 5 is nothing more than a rendition of a past time success, that shows us all exactly how vulnerable Apple is as they stand alone at the top. Oh how great is the fall, when having fallen from the peak!
The expected release date was set for September 21st, but these date are subject to change. Keep it locked here for more info on the iPhone 5 and other Apple products as they are made available.
