Silva vs. Weidman “The Rematch”

Dana white hinted many times at the post fight  press conference last Saturday that there would most likely be a rematch between Silva and Weidman.  Well, the rematch is now set in stone. Silva and Weidman will face off once again at UFC 168 on December 28th 2013.

Shortly after the fight, Silva seemed to have no interest in a rematch after loosing in devastating fashion to Chris Weidman.  Silva said multiple times that Chris was the better fighter and that it was Weidman’s turn to be the champion.  During the post fight press conference, Dana kept pushing the word “rematch” almost as if he was sure Silva would come to his senses after taking a few days off.   He was right.

It wasn’t but a few hours after his defeat that Silva began to tell his teammates and coaches that he wanted a rematch before the end of the year and that he didn’t want to wait till 2014 to fight Weidman.  Originally, Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate were to headline the card at UFC 168, but it is apparent that Dana believes Silva vs. Weidman 2 will bring in more money, so miving Rousey vs Tate to the co main event seemed necessary.

I believe this decision is without a doubt a win win for everyone. Dana White gets to make even more money than the first match, Weidman gets the chance to prove that this win wasn’t just a fluke, Anderson Silva will have the opportunity to redeem him self, and the fans get to watch it allover again.
